waffle flower my silly valentine

Hi Friends! I am home from our cruise and raring to go! It is amazing how a week vacation can really refresh and re-energize a person.

Today (and all week long) Waffle Flower Crafts is sharing silly valentines on their cutie-pie blog. I know all of you are following them, right? Well, I am up today and here is a little sneak peek of my post:

Be sure to click HERE  to see the whole post.

Now, I have to do admire my very slight golden tan since I know it will only last about 24 hours. Ha, ha. Hello several dozen new freckles!

exciting news

My life is indeed pretty exciting, but today I want to share some grand news for other people in my life.

First of all, the winner of the Waffle Flower Stamp Set is Joanie! (I will shoot you an email, Joanie). Fun stuff for Joanie.

The actual reason for my post is to share a new development in the life of my sweet and energetic friend, Susan Opel.

Susan and I

Not even kidding, she is such a hoot. This photo is from one of the first times I was able to hang out with her, round about 2009. Ha, ha! Love it! We spent a lot of years working for Paper Crafts Magazine and becoming crafty buddies. We both love trends and keeping up with the latest and greatest in our little world.

Well, I knew it would not take long for some smart savvy business to snap Susan up in one capacity or another (since our beloved magazine close shop less than a month ago). Today My Favorite Things Stamps announced that Susan will serve as their Creative Ambassador. (Ha, ha, why do I think Susan created this title?) She will rock at it. For starters, she is heading up an amazing design team for MFT and will be hosting a new blog called MFT Challenge and Inspiration, it is is all about color and creativity.

mft new blog

Her team is amazing! There will be lots of challenges including a bi monthly sketch challenge (love me a sketch challenge). You will definitely want to click HERE and slap a bookmark on that baby.

And, since I feel the need to give MFT Stamps a shout out of my own, here is a favorite card I made using their adorable stamps and dies.

Watt's Up Card

Seriously? Clean, crisp, graphic, that is my kind of card. Congrats to My Favorite Things and especially to Kim (the owner) for being such a smart cookie.

Happy New Year!

paper crafts magazine goodbye

I have worked for Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking magazine since 2006. It is going to be really really different without them as part of my daily life. From creating projects to writing blog posts, chatting on Facebook, exchanging emails, it will be be strange moving forward.

But, it is not all about me, it is really a community that will be gone. A great group of paper crafting folks who really had fun together. Editors, contributors, even advertisers. I know we will each find our new niche and life will go on, but it is worth reflecting on and saying goodbye, for sure. The editors in particular: Jennifer leading the pack, Kerri keeping us organized, P. Kelly rooting for the underdog, quiet but feisty Holly, Brandy who always had a kind word, Jennafer M. who first invited me to Ed Board, Stacy who has always had my back, Susan who never thought there was anything I could not do and most of all Cath, my partner in crime, trend watching and the one who first singled me out and has never left me out since. (Now, I am gonna cry).

My Kind of Guy_Kesti

Now that is off my chest, I am going to share a few of my favorite cards that either have been published, or were on the schedule to appear in the magazine. They are pretty much all Kesti style (as the editors would call it).

Gold and a little collage thrown in for fun. (Love this background from Neat and Tangled).

Starry Night

My last Moxie Fab, and one of my favorites.

March Sparks_Kesti

A direct ink to paper experiment. Love the yellow!

And, a blast from the past, one of my favorites of all time.

Thanks for taking a peek! All of the Go to Gals are posting today with some favorite projects, memories and more. (Links in my sidebar). Take a look and leave a comment, too. We love sharing our passion with you. Stick around, please!

bubblegum necklaces

We have been busy planning and preparing for our first ever Fall Boutique for a church fundraiser. We normally have this type of sale at our annual Winter Services, held in February. But, this year we had the idea to throw together some fun items for a November sale.

In the meantime, I wanted to share a few of the bubblegum necklaces we made.

Bubblegum just refers to the approximate size of the acrylic beads. They are cute and chunky. These are all sized perfectly for a 4-7 year old. We sell them for $21 including shipping (so if anyone online is interested, just leave me a comment).

And here is a photo of my oldest and youngest! Eloise loves her peas and carrots necklace.

Thanks for taking a peek! Have a colorful weekend!

waffle flower crafts give thanks

Happy Friday!

I am here today to share a fun little project made with the new Waffle Flower Crafts Holiday Labels Give Thanks stamp set. The reason for the longer name of this stamp set is because Nina also has a Holiday Labels Merry stamp set. And the best part? There is a die that matches BOTH sets. I love when that happens. Clever Nina!

So, here is the stamp set that I used. Actually, mainly I used the little leave along with the Thankful greeting. I have been wanting to try a technique that Richard Garay used when making some fall leaves. I did not do it exactly like his, but he was inspiration, for sure.

WFC_Kesti_Give Thanks

(Both the inks and the Gold and Bronze Silks are from Fun Stampers Journey). I love how the leaves take on so much texture. Even though it is the same stamp over and over again, each leaf looks amazing. Just like Mother Nature! Hee.

I used the matching die to cut each leaf then shaped them into a wreath. I also added a little more Bronze Silk. Kind of warm and fun!

Thanks for taking a peek. Waffle Flower Crafts is having an amazing blog hop in just a week or so, stayed tuned to their blog and you just might see some sneak peeks soon!

Love it!

Quickly popping in to share that the winners of my Create and Share Cardmaking class are Perrie and the friend she included, Candyce! Yay! I will enjoy both of you in class.

create and share cardmaking class returns

How is this for exciting news? Big Picture Classes and I have mutually agreed that my Create and Share Cardmaking class deserves a little rerun! I am so excited! I put a lot of love and sweat (really, no tears) into this fun class so I am really pleased that it is being offered again. And, of course, I cannot resist adding a wee bit of content. Ha, ha, how about six weeks worth of card lessons (videos, guests, techniques, etc) PLUS twelve brand new cards for the holidays? YES!

The class starts on November 20th, so please check it out HERE. The original content is returning, including a fun, active message board, all of the sketches and instruction, and pdfs. We had such fun last go round, I think we had close to 300 students from all around the world. It really turned into a fun place to hang out – the gallery was filled with amazing cards, we had our own Pinterest board, and sweet folks just filled the message boards with happy talk! I know you would really enjoy the class!

So, check it out and even share the news with a friend. Speaking of a friend, please leave me a comment right here about a friend who might enjoy the class and I will enter BOTH of you to win a free spot in class! That is TWO free spots!

Enter by Sunday, October 19th, Midnight PST (that is just a few days away).

waffle flower crafts tribal thanks card

Hi friends! I am sneaking in here at the end of a long weekend to post a new card I recently created. Have you all had a chance to see the new release from Waffle Flower Crafts? Oh my. It is a larger release than normal and is amazing! The motifs are spot on and the new sets to embellish your organizer and calendar? So perfect!

271014-Tribal-Thank-You-Stamp-Set 310015-Flower-Circles-Die

I used two products for my card, the Tribal Thanks stamp set (so trendy) and the Flower Circles Die (which is so awesome). Both pieces have so many possibilities it is almost mind blowing.

WF Die_Kesti

This is just the basic cut of the Flower Circle Die. It has the cutest little stitched edges and all the pieces cut so crisply. Love.

Tribal Thank You _Kesti1

Here is my finished card. I inked the edge of the Flower Circle Die so soften it, and I also did a little technique on the background of the stamped image. If you look closely you can see that I used watercolor paper and inked a soft background for the dream catcher.

Tribal Technique_Kesti

Tsukineko sent me some of this cool All Purpose Ink and the cute little Fantastix blender tools. Honestly, I have no idea if these are supposed to be used with the ink, but it sure worked well. I just kind of lightly painted it on the watercolor paper. I think it would blend beautifully if you had different shades of ink (but nothing else I had matched). Kind of fun to try out some new tools.

In any case, I really like how the stamped image looks kind of dreamy and soft for this card.

Okay friends, have to run. I have a fun, exciting offer for you tomorrow, so skip back, okay?

simon says many thanks

Hi friends!

Today is my birthday! Wow, it has been a crazy day including school being cancelled because of the rain. Seriously? Well, we did get an entire YEAR of rain in less than six hours, so maybe it was justified. Ha, ha.

Just popping in to say thanks for all the wonderful birthday greetings I have received today. On facebook, texts, messages and in the mail, I am already spoiled and the day is only half over. It seems appropriate to share a card I just made for the Simon Says Stamp Stamptember event.

I used the older Simon puppy stamp along with a brand new, exclusive Stamptember stamp. You can find Many Thanks HERE. And you really must check out their blog all month long. They have already had a ton of giveaways and guest designers, etc. Do not miss a thing!

Have a great Monday, and thanks again for the birthday wishes!
