waffle flower dt mix blog hop

Hello friends! I know a lot of you have been following the new stamp set release from Waffle Flower Crafts on Instagram and Facebook. But, I bet you did not know that this release includes a very special stamp set. It is call DT Mix because each member of the Waffle Flower design team was asked to contribute a little piece. How fun is that?

Tribal Thank You

Like most sets, you will only get the full effect of each piece of the puzzle as you enjoy this blog hop! Do you see the cute little string art heart and sentiment near the top? That was the result of my brainstorming with Nina! Trust me, I am not artist and I did not draw this design, but I did have an idea and I created my own inspiration board. Want to see?

kesti inspiration

I often create boards like this to inspire my card making and designing. You can kind of follow along with my crazy thought pattern here: from lines that make constellations to geometric shapes to the art of string. And this is what a finished card looks like.

Kesti_DT MIX

The actual stamp is pretty simple, an outline of a heart with the two letters “i” and “u”. But, after stamping the heart and piercing holes on each dot, I threaded a needle with upholstery thread (a little thicker than normal thread) and randomly stitched a pattern. I was inspired to go a little more rustic with this card, but I already have another in the works using bright embroidery floss and colored ink. Cannot wait to share it!

You definitely want to sit back and hop through all the posts below. You should maybe even start at Waffle Flower to learn more about the new release!

planning for 2015

Hi friends!

Hope you had a wonderful holiday! I sure did. I was able to gather with the family, relax and make merry. I am so grateful for all the blessings I have. 2014 was a year of dramatic change in our lives, we are still figuring it all out, but I am seeing 2015 as being one for the record books. Stay tuned! Ha, ha.

Today I want to share a little bit about customizing my planner for 2015. I have had planners on and off for years, but now that I am back at work, I see the potential in keeping a planner even more! I love my Simple Stories planner for keeping at home, next to my desk/computer station. (I have a smaller planner that goes in my purse for on the go planning, ha!)

I have the 6 X 8 Teal Album from Simple Stories (shown above) although I have not collected all the little stickers, etc. Instead, I used the Waffle Flower Crafts Calendar Stamp Set and the Planner Stay Focused Stamp Set to customize my pages.

Here is a photo of getting started.

Kesti_Planner prep

I pulled a pile of the Simple Stories Life Documented Weekly Planner Inserts and laid them out assembly style. I used my adorable tiny clear blocks from Fun Stampers Journey and stamped JANUARY on each day. Then, I added the cute little check boxes and other banners to my pages.

Kesti_Planner 2015

Here a peek at my first two week spread. This is January 5-18th and it looks to be crazy busy already! A trip to CHA, two birthdays and the Waffle Flower Blog Hop! Fun! (I love the Simple Stories Plastic Bookmark, too).

waffle flower crafts tiny tags

Hi there! Oh boy, I meant to post this earlier today, but I woke up with a killer of a headache. Now, I see that a storm is rolling in. Duh, pressure headache. Yuck!

But, I am feeling better and I really want to share a fun little project I recently created. Little certainly describes these tags!

Tiny Tag1

I thought it would be fun to get a jump start on my holiday tag making so I pulled out the A Homemade Christmas stamp set.

You can see all the adorable little pieces which inspired my tags. I used a mix and match of these little guys to make up five tiny tags.

Tiny Tags 3

Oh, and I threw in the teeny Tiny Star Die, which is the cutest die ever!

Tiny Tags 2

Here is a closer shot of the star die and the Home Sweet Home tag, I have attached them to small gift boxes, perfect for treats or party favors.

Tiny Tags 4

This just might be my favorite tag of all. I used the Ho Ho Ho sentiment and just repeated it with the stitched lines stamp, and then I added the stars which had popped out of the star die. Fun!

Tiny Tags 5

And, finally this little cutie. Making these tags was a blast!

So, next Saturday (October 4th) is World Card Making Day! Are you getting together with friends to crop? If you are in the Phoenix area, consider joining me at the Scrapbook Expo either Friday or Saturday. I am teaching classes for Spellbinders and Fun Stampers Journey both days! Be sure to say HI!

waffle flower starry night stamp set

Hello! I feel like I am coming down from a card making high! Hee, hee. The submission deadline for the ultimate Card Creations Volume 13 is Monday night, so a lot of us card making fools have been busy this weekend. Card Creations is one of the Paper Crafts titles that is still in full glorious print, so it is always an exciting issue. And, volume 13 is shaping up to be a real winner!

While playing with my new Waffle Flower Crafts stamp sets, I came up with this little cutie using the Starry Night set

Kesti_Starry Night1

I know! Another shaker card! But honestly? I love them. Here is how this card came to be:

Kesti_Starry Night process

I stamped the darling cloud and sentiment in the center of my cardstock. Then, I stamped all kinds of navy blue stars including lots of bitty ones. Next, I added tiny dots of Stickles to some of the stars. You know, so they glitter a bit. I had fun picking out some pretties for inside the shaker; I chose more stars, white, silver, square and opalescent sequins. Fun stuff!

Kesti_Starry Night2

For the frame, I die cut the Waffle Flower Surface Tag die, then splattered it with the Tsukineko irResistible spray. I wanted to share the above photo so you can see the shaker in action. LOVE it!

Okay, off to play with stamps a little more.

waffle flower crafts starry night

Happy Friday! Since I have started work, this phrase has a whole new meaning! Ha, ha. Actually, it is less about work (which I love) and more about carpools, babysitters, kids after school, etc. Ah well, we are starting to settle into a little routine. Give us a week or so more and I think it will all work out.

In the meantime, I had a chance to pop into my studio and create a card with one of the new Waffle Flower stamp sets, Starry Night.

There are so many possibilities here. Since we have several friends who are expecting, I was in the mood to make a baby card. I love the two sentiments at the bottom of this set, they both work well for a baby card, right?

Starry Night1_Kesti

It is really pretty simple, I stamped the moon and embossed it with clear powder. Next, I stamped the stars in a brighter yellow, then added strings with Gold Glitz Delicata ink. I also added some tiny dots to outline the starts with a gold marker.

Starry Night_Kesti

Here is a close shot of the stars. They are SO cute and tiny! Next, I misted the whole panel with Sky Mr. Huey. Love that. Lastly, I added the hand cut cloud and popped the sentiment up on foam dots. Okay, so that seems like a lot of steps, but it was really just a little of this and a little of that.

Thanks for taking a peek!

waffle flower crafts project and giveaway

Hi friends! Wow! Is is just me, or is summer flying by? We enjoyed having my sister Jen in town over the past weekend, it was hard to say goodbye this afternoon. She is facing a rough road (along with her whole family) as her daughter Katie is in the last stages of her battle with brain cancer. She is such a little fighter, but now is ready for peace and rest.

On a happier note, I wanted to announce the last two winners of my blog giveaways. I think I need an assistant to help me with all the pesky details around here (along with my dishes, laundry and dirty toilets, ha!). The Fancy Pants Giveaway is going to Julie A. Shearer (whoot!) and the winner of the Xyron Sticker Maker is Janis in IN! (Lucky to have a name starting with J, I guess!)

And, why not share a new project using Waffle Flower Crafts while I am on a roll? It is almost time for the new release, but I am not quite ready to give up any of my June release sets! Hee, hee. Today I am using the Loved stamp set.

So friendly and versatile! We have a wedding in the family (no, not any of my kiddos, ha!), so I had the idea to embellish a larger coin envelope. Let us face reality, most young couples love CASH for a wedding gift. This is a fun way to give cash without just sticking it loose in a card.

I wanted to backtrack and share a bit of my inspiration for this envelope. First, I dug through some of my scraps and found these pieces from the Story of Us collection by Simple Stories.

I love that this is essentially a wedding collection, but it has some fun and fresh colors included with the black and white. So, after stamping my main image, I referred to this paper to color the flowers, etc.

Then, I added one piece of the coordinating chipboard on the panel. Actually, it was quite simple and easy to create this card! Have you ever decorated these types of envelopes?

Hey, thanks for taking a peek! To reward your patience, I am giving away one of the Loved stamp sets (as pictured above). SWEET! Thanks, Nina for your generosity. Leave me a comment about the last wedding you attended and I will enter you to WIN. (Comment by Friday night, August 1st, then check back on August 2nd for a sneak peek of the newest Waffle Flower Crafts release!)

waffle flower play time

Hey there! I am popping in today to show you my latest creation using Waffle Flower Crafts. This month has been so busy with vacations and such that I have not had time to really dig into the Bowtiful Additions Stamp Set before now.

Seeing as how the original Bowtiful Stamp Set is one of my all time favorites, this play date was long overdue.

I first wanted to show the process of how I use the stamp and die combination. Because the stamps are clear, you have a choice. You can stamp first, then die cut, or vice versa. I prefer to stamp first (both layers in this case), then gently adhere my die, on the edge with washi tape. Then, I run it through my manual die cutting machine and peel the tape right off. What is your process?

Addition Set_Waffleflower_Kesti

Here is the finished card, I used the new bow background, and also the label from the Bowtiful Additions set (and the sentiment, too). Hee, hee. Generally, I had a blast making this one. Do not miss the fun splatters behind the bows, they add one more layer of spark!

Did you know that Waffle Flower also had a challenge section of the blog? Click HERE to check it out. See if you can spot the sketch that I loosely based my card on? So fun!

surface tag waffle flower blog hop

Welcome to the Waffle Flower Blog Hop! It is a chance for the Design Team to experiment with the new stamps and dies and run them through their paces! Ha, ha. Nina has created such a versatile set that we are featuring today. (Do not forget to enter a comment at the end of my post and be entered to win a stamp set of your choice from Waffle Flower Crafts!)

The name comes from the fact that this set is both a Tag and a Surface set, meaning that besides the tag pieces, it has lots of fun embellishments and backgrounds that play well together. Here is a photo of the Surface Tag Stamp Set.

And here are two of the coordinating die sets, the Surface Tag Die Starter Set and the Scallop Add on Die Set.

Just imagine the possibilities.

Kesti_Tag Hop 1

First of all, I love how the Scalloped Die Add On cuts so many pieces in one swipe. So darn cute. I was inspired to use this as a frame for a shaker box.

Kesti_Tag Hop 4

This is what I call Anatomy of a Card. I added another stamp set (Notions Stamp Set) as an accent to the Surface Tag Stamp Set. The tiny hearts from the tag set are stamped in gold. Aww.

Kesti_Tag Hop 2

Here is the smaller tag die which I stamped with the subtle dotted background stamp. Here is a little closer look.

This also shows how I layered the tag reinforcers (love those). You can even get one free with a $25 order!

So here is the beauty shot! Thanks for taking a peek. Here is the complete order of the blog hop. Relax, enjoy and prepare to be wowed by the talent of this design team. I always am!

waffle flower loved stamp set

Hello, friends! Well, so much for my summer schedule, ha, ha. I had full intentions of posting this yesterday, but life sort of got in the way. I have a really ambitious goal of posting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday will all kinds of crafty fun. MUST get on this.

Well, it is always fun to start out with announcing a winner! Helen Gullett won the stamp set from Waffle Flower Crafts! Yay! I will send you an email, Helen. So, I figured why not celebrate with Helen and post another Waffle Flower card?

This card featured the brand new Loved stamp set. I love that this set is so ultra versatile. I am slowly getting more comfortable with builder sets, especially when I see what other crafters create with sets like this. Amazing! I stamped my images, then popped up the center with an oval die. I think it adds a little extra interest. I really enjoy the stationery effect of this card. Here is a peek at the actual set.

See how interesting it is to combine all these fun elements? Super dying over the fantastic card Katie made, click HERE to see.

Okay, better run the kiddos to the library so I can come home and craft! Devious. Ha, ha.

waffle flower new stamp set

Hello! I am excited to be sharing a card using the brand new Flower Circles Stamp Set from Waffle Flower Crafts. This is my favorite set from the new release. I can totally see myself making tons of cards with different looks. Awesome.

Here is the stamp set. I can just see the wheels turning in your mind!

And here is my card. I used watercolors to paint the background circles (notice they are quite uneven and overlapping, love this look). Then, I used two of the texture circles from the set and stamped over the blue and green watercolor. The blue shows up quite nice, but my greens may have been too close in hue. It does show up better in real life, ha, ha.

But, my favorite was stamping the centers on the pink circles. The darker pink really pops, right? I die cut the center window for my sentiment to finish off this card. Super fun!

(P.S. I did NOT use any fancy watercolors for this, just your basic kid set. I really need to bite the bullet and get some nicer paints).

Guess what? I am giving you the chance to win one of these Flower Circles Stamp Sets! How fun is that? Please leave me a comment about your experience with watercolors, have you ever tried them? Loved them? What kind do you like? I will keep the comments open until Tuesday night, June 10th at Midnight, PST. Good luck!
